Sugar Land Asphalt Paving got its start in the spring of 2008, when our founder left a highway paving crew working the US 59 corridor to take on driveways for neighbors on his own. The first job was a crumbling driveway in Sugar Creek, and that homeowner ended up recommending us to four families on the same street before summer was over.
Sugar Land grew fast in the years that followed, jumping from 78,817 residents in the 2010 U.S. Census to 111,026 in 2020, which brought more new subdivisions, more shopping centers and a lot more pavement that needed to hold up to Texas heat. Today, our team of 14 full-time pavers handles asphalt repair and installation for homes, HOAs, churches and businesses across Fort Bend County.

From 1 Plate Compactor to a Full Paving Crew
It was a sticky August evening in 2008 when our founder rolled the last pass on his very first job, a Sugar Creek driveway he’d spent two days patching and paving with little more than a plate compactor, a lute rake, and a borrowed hand roller. He worked mostly weekends back then, and every finished driveway turned into the next phone call from a neighbor down the street.
Word kept spreading, and by 2012 HOA boards around First Colony were asking for help with cracked streets and crumbling cul-de-sacs. Taking on that kind of work meant buying a used paver and a ride-on roller and renting a small equipment yard off US 90A, which was a big leap for a one-man operation.
Then Hurricane Beryl hit in July 2024, leaving potholes and washed-out edges across Fort Bend County. Over 5 straight weeks, Sugar Land Asphalt Paving fixed more than 400 storm-damaged spots for homes, churches, and HOAs, and the lessons from that stretch still guide every job today, from phased scheduling and night work on busy lots to keeping a crew leader on site from the first cut to the final roll.

Our mission is short enough to stencil on a parking lot. Every surface should shed rain without a puddle, every quote should hold up to the final invoice, and every job site should be swept cleaner than it was the morning we pulled in.
That promise lives in the little routines. Before the roller ever leaves, our crew leaders run a hose test across every new surface to catch low spots, and the founder still personally signs off on any quote over $7,500.

The company turns 20 in 2029, and the goal leading up to that milestone is to become the go-to paving team for the places Fort Bend relies on most, including schools, medical clinics, churches and city parks. A second full-time estimator came on board this fall, which means quotes can reach property owners faster as the workload keeps growing.
With heavier downpours rolling through the Brazos River area more often, the crew is also expanding its drainage work, adding more trench drains, curb cuts and regraded slopes to keep water off the pavement. By the end of 2027, every crew leader is set to complete TXAPA’s hot mix quality control certification. We’d rather take a little longer to get it right than rush a job that has to be redone in two summers.
